Google to Acquire Twitter?

This rumor going around of Google planning on acquiring Twitter is worth a mention. The purchase of Twitter by Google would allow Google to gain entry in one of the fastest growing segments of the social network space. Twitter fields millions of tweets per day on a variety of topics.

more... Google's potential acquisition gives them access to all of the Tweets made by members of Twitter which can be used for marketing, search queries and general real time trend tracking. As an example, if millions of tweets are going out on a topic it is clearly something of interest to people. This real time trending occurs faster than people posting to a website, and then waiting for Google to index their site.

Last month Twitter did turn down an offer form Facebook which attempted to purchase them in an all stock deal. The purchase of Twitter by Google could come in the form of cash and Google stock which can be sold and more importantly valued accurately.
