Welcome to 1997
3/2/2009 11:51:00 AM
The Dow has fallen below 7000 points. The last time it was at that level was during 1997. At that time I was working in Manhattan on Wall Street, young, ambitious and enjoying the time.
If you have never worked on Wall Street I would recommend it for everyone to do for at least one year. It is one of the most enlightening times that a person can have in their work career.
I am watching my stock ticker application as it continues to drop and take it in stride. This is the time that we now live in where there are no certain things. There is only the knowing that what you once thought was safe is no longer safe.
I don't see the decline below 7000 as a bad thing, but as a time where the market is self correcting and will create opportunities for those investors who have money to begin saving for the eventual rise in 10 years.
