Apple delays the International iPad Launch

4/14/2010 9:35:00 AM

Apple has delayed the international release of the iPad until the end of May. The delay may be a coincidence, or an effort by Apple to focus on building up for the iPad 3G launch and an OS update.

Currently Apple has acknowledged that a wifi issue exists within the iPad under certain situations. These situations force the device to loose connectivity to a wifi access point. It would be perfectly reasonable for Apple to delay the international launch until a fix can be deployed.

If Apple does launch a fix, they would save themselves much negative publicity and potential customer service nightmare.

Another possibility which is much less likely is Apple delaying the launch of the international iPad, to focus on producing more iPad 3Gs. Although the iPad has been selling well, it also has not been purchased by many customers.

Many of these on the fence customers have been waiting for the iPad 3G which offers a similar capability that is currently found within the Kindle. Although some view the iPad wifi as adequate, there are some that do not and would prefer the ability to connect anywhere.
