Twitter Rolls Out Ad Platform Twitter is continuing to shock it's users and the world win the announcement earlier today regarding future of ads on the platform, The announcement was made today that Twitter would be launching promoted Tweets, a service where ads from sponsors would be included at first within search results and later directly within user's timeline.

The idea of a promoted tweet is simple. Twitter will determine the relevance of a ad to the search query that is entered by a user and subsequently display it at the top of the search results. This first attempt by Twitter to begin offering ads to users' and so far has not been well received. 

Twitter's COO is discussing the specifics of the platform today at an AdAge presentation and it will be interesting to see the results.
