IPad Pre-Orders Begin
3/12/2010 9:30:00 AM
iPad pre-orders are now being accepted at the Apple Store. Although it's unlikely that Apple will release specific pre-order sales figures, we can do some back of the envelope calculations to find out how well sales went.

What we can use to help us determine how successful the launch is by waiting to see how before the store cannot accept any more orders. Apple has undoubtedly only allocated part of the entire production shipments to pre-orders, while the remaining amounts are for stores.
If the pre-order allocation runs out in the shortest amount of time, then Apple has guage the proper amount of interest. If the pre-orders do not run out on the first day, then Apple has mis-judged the amount of interest.
Let's see how long it takes before the pre-order supply runs out.
